3.0 out of 5 stars Great Expectations - not a great cover, November 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This case is not bad - it's cute to look at and I really wanted to love it. Except I didn't.

The canvas is coated with a plastic material to keep it clean on the outside, but the black and white striped canvas is not protected, so I suspect it will get dirty quickly. I knew it wasn't leather when I bought it but thought it wouldn't matter, but when I got it up close and personal, it really did. It was not nearly the quality I was looking for.

It doesn't fold back flat. While the hinge system is the same as Amazon's, I just didn't feel it was as secure as it could be. I don't like my Kindle flapping around freely. Last, there wasn't a way to keep it closed. Yes, when lying flat it did stay closed but when in a bag it opens easily.

I returned it, the name and cute design just aren't enough for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Advised Me To Return, December 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
So I received this cover and loved it. I had no problem with the hinges and it was very cute to look at. However, after about 2-3 weeks of using this cover my Kindle would not turn on. I called the support number and they helped me reset my Kindle and it works fine now. However, the support person told me that Amazon thought the covers with hinges were causing problems with Kindles and advised me to return this cover. Although it's cute, I did not want to keep the cover if it meant my Kindle would be damaged, so I returned it. Got a $25 credit from Amazon (in addition to the full price of the cover) and ordered one of the covers without hinges (the New Yorker ones are cute). I haven't had any problems since.

I love everything about this cover with the exception of two things. One is not a big deal - I wish the cover had a strap to keep it closed. But it is sturdy enough to stay shut pretty well on its own. The other thing, which is MAJORLY annoying, is that the hinges will not hold the Kindle in straight. I also can't pull them back out now, and so I am worried that I will end up breaking the cover if I need to remove the kindle. Good idea in theory, but having it sit at an angle really bothers me.

Update: Amazon customer service sent me a list of tips on how to use the hinge system more easily and properly so that I can get the Kindle in and out. I must assume it was based on this review, so I have to give a thumbs up for customer service related to this product. It is also worth noting that I get a lot of compliments on my cover and when I traveled with it, it kept everything very secure.
